We’re proud to own this valued resource right in Hecla’s back yard – just 50 miles from our Lucky Friday mine. The proposed Rock Creek project, located 5 miles from the town of Noxon, Montana, will be situated on 481 acres. The majority of that, comprising the tailings storage facility, will be adjacent to an existing lumber mill and 5 miles from the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area boundary. The underground room-and-pillar operation will produce an estimated 6 million ounces of silver and 50 million pounds of copper annually. Over the life of the mine (currently estimated at 33-38 years), Rock Creek will provide more than 300 full-time jobs, a $667 million payroll, $175 million in tax revenue, and $400 million toward the purchase of goods and services.
